Cupcake papers, also known as cupcake or muffin liners, are round, fluted paper cups used to line muffin/cupcake pans, prevent sticking, and assist with easy removal and cleanup. They come in various materials, sizes, and styles to suit different baking needs and occasions.

Types and Materials
  • Standard Paper Liners: These are the most traditional and widely available, coming in a vast array of colors and patterns. High-quality versions are often greaseproof to keep colors vibrant and prevent the cake's color from bleeding through the paper.
  • Foil Liners: These offer a shiny, rigid alternative that holds its shape well and prevents grease stains. They are a good choice for a more formal or eye-catching presentation.
  • Parchment Paper Liners: Made from greaseproof and nonstick parchment, these are often unbleached and can come in decorative shapes like the popular "tulip" style, which extends above the cupcake for a café look.
  • Silicone Liners: These are a reusable, non-stick, and durable option. They can often be placed directly on a baking sheet without a muffin pan and are easy to clean (often dishwasher safe).
  • Solid Board/Cardboard Liners: These are sturdy and freestanding, meaning they don't require a special pan to bake in and can go directly on a baking sheet. They are moisture- and grease-resistant.

Sizes and Styles
Liners are available in several sizes, so it's important to match them to your pan:
  • Mini: For bite-sized treats.
  • Standard: The most common size, fitting most standard muffin pans.
  • Jumbo/Large: Accommodates a larger muffin or cupcake.
Styles include:
  • Fluted: The classic, crimped edge design.
  • Tulip/Lotus: Decorative, flared designs that resemble a flower and offer a professional look.
  • Wrappers: These are often decorative sleeves added after baking to dress up a plain-cased cupcake, rather than a liner for baking in.
